Receding-Horizon Energy-Maximising Optimal Control of Wave Energy Systems Based on Moments

In this study, we address the issue of real-time energy-maximising control for wave energy converters (WECs), by proposing a receding-horizon optimal framework based on concept moment. This approach is achieved extending so-called moment-based framework, recently published in WEC literature, to effectively solve associated problem within finite time-horizon, allowing performance, and straightforward inclusion excitation force F e estimation forecasting requirements, which are intrinsic application. We present case CorPower-like device, subject both state input constraints. show that proposed strategy can perform almost identically ideal performance case, where full knowledge over time-horizon assumed available. Moreover, sensitivity analysis provided, addressing impact errors computation input. Two main conclusions be drawn from analysis: Forecasting mismatch has negligible overall strategy, while potential differences arising estimating , particular, phase errors, substantially total absorption.
